Scott’s Red Polaris Xpedition ADV Build

Scott came to us with a vision for his Polaris Xpedition ADV, and I think this might actually be the first red build that we've done here at the shop. He wanted something that could handle long multi-day trips out in the desert with a smooth ride, extra width, and plenty of storage. We went through the build with him, put together a plan, and I'm really happy with how this one turned out. Let's walk you through everything we did.

Front End and Lighting

This build doesn't have a front bumper, but what we did add up front are the B's Fab driving lights. These are one of those products that make you wonder why they aren't factory. They hook up to a harness that's already there from Polaris, so it's a super quick and easy install. You hook them up, add the switch, and you've got front lights. No cutting, no splicing, no headaches.

We also installed XTC Power Products headlights with amber turn signals that are brighter than factory. The amber indicators up front are part of the XTC Power Products self-canceling turn signal system, which gives Scott full turn signal capability with a clean, self-canceling billet lever setup.

Suspension and Drivetrain

This is where the ride quality really comes together. We did a full HCR Racing suspension on this Xpedition, and as always when we run an HCR kit, we pair it with SuperATV Rhino 2.0 axles to handle the extra travel and width. We also installed an HCR Racing tie rod kit to keep the steering tight and reliable at those wider specs.

For the spring and shock tuning, we went with a Shock Therapy dual rate spring kit and a Shock Therapy ride improvement system. That combination with the HCR suspension means Scott is going to have the smoothest ride possible along with all that extra width. When you're doing three and four day trips in the desert, that ride quality makes all the difference.

Wheels, Tires, and Custom Powder Coating

For the wheel and tire setup, we went with the Valor Offroad Tango tire in a 33-inch size. If you've watched any of our videos before, you know that we love the 33s on the mid-travel kits. It's the best combination out there for this platform. Scott chose the Valor Offroad V16 beadlock wheel in the charcoal color, and then we did some custom powder coating to really make it pop. Red V logos and red beadlock rings tie into the red Xpedition body perfectly. Those little details are what take a build from clean to dialed.

Roof Rack and Exterior

Up top, we mounted a KC HiLiTES Gravity LED Pro6 light bar on an SDR Motorsports X-Plorer Series roof rack. That rack gives Scott a ton of real estate up top for everything he needs on those long trips. We also installed a Starlink Mini Mount with all the wiring done underneath so he's got internet wherever he goes. For the spare tire, we have a full-size spare secured with an Elektric Offroad Designs tire Y-strap.

Scott also wanted whips and a radio antenna, so we went with Marshin Whips on a B's Fab HD whip mount. This is the dual mount version, which gives us a whip option on one side and a Rugged Radios antenna option on the other. Super clean setup.

Around back, we added an XTC Power Products LED license plate frame so he's lit up when he's cruising around. And one of my favorite additions on any Xpedition ADV is the DRT Motorsports exterior billet liftgate handle. You don't have to mess with the locks anymore. Just grab it and open. It's the nicest thing you can add to these Xpedition ADVs for everyday convenience.

Interior

On the inside, we set Scott up with a Rugged Radios M1 race series radio for communication on the trail. We also installed a Rugged Radios USB rocker switch hub kit so he can charge his phone and devices right from the dash. All the switching for the front light bar, whips, turn signal kit, and Starlink is handled through XTC Power Products switches for a clean, organized cockpit.

We also added the Geiser Performance shift boot for a finished look around the shifter. And of course, we always throw in the B's Fab extended door limiting straps to give some extra width when getting in and out, along with the B's Fab dustproof floor plugs to keep the dust and debris out of the cab.

Built for Multi-Day Adventures

This is a really well-rounded build. Scott's going to use the crap out of this thing on three and four day desert trips, and he's got everything he needs to do it comfortably. Smooth ride from the HCR Racing suspension and Shock Therapy tuning, extra width from the mid-travel kit, storage on the SDR Motorsports roof rack, Starlink for connectivity, and a full Rugged Radios communication setup. Every detail was planned around making those long trips as enjoyable as possible.
