Back in 2014, we were invited to be part of one of the most memorable builds we’ve ever had a hand in—and to this day, it still stands out.
Guy Fieri teamed up with Polaris RZR, UTV Underground, Rigid Industries and CR Designs. to pull off a massive surprise for his close crew: a fleet of fully built RZR XP 1000s, custom painted, outfitted, and dialed in—delivered in true Guy fashion at DuneFest in Winchester Bay, Oregon.
It all started in Arizona. Guy convinced his crew they were heading out for a weekend of riding, but behind the scenes, he had something else planned. With help from Polaris, he handed each member of the crew a brand-new RZR XP 1000... sort of.
They weren’t getting them that day. Instead, the machines were taken back to be completely customized—new cages, paint, lighting, interiors, and more. And that’s where we came in.
We collaborated with the rest of the team on key elements of the build, including custom cages, lighting, and finishes—each machine tailored to the personality and style of the rider. Here’s how it broke down:
Each RZR came down to the frame and was rebuilt from scratch—powder-coated, painted, fitted with new components, and finished with style.
Four months after the surprise reveal in Arizona, Guy Fieri and his crew finally got to see their finished RZRs—fully built, custom painted, and ready to rip. DuneFest 2014 was the perfect place to hand them over.
What started as stock XP 1000s had been transformed behind the scenes by Jagged X, CR Designs, Rigid Industries, and Polaris. Seeing the crew's reactions as the final builds rolled out was the payoff for months of behind-the-scenes work.
The delivery wasn’t the end of it. Guy Fieri and his crew took their new RZRs straight into the dunes. We saw them racing, jumping, and throwing sand with zero hesitation—exactly what these builds were meant for.
That year at DuneFest was stacked. Polaris demo rides, vendor row, show-and-shine, food, racing—you name it. But even with everything going on, those custom RZRs stood out.
