Cardo Packtalk Edgephones ORV: A First Look at Next-Level Off-Road Communication

If you’ve been around the off-road world lately, you’ve probably seen the Cardo name popping up more and more. We have too—and after hearing good things from friends and seeing them in action, we decided it was time to check them out for ourselves.

Today we got our hands on a set of Cardo Packtalk Edgephones ORV, and even though this is just a first impression, there’s already a lot to be excited about.

What’s in the Box?

The Cardo Packtalk Edgephones ORV system comes with:

• A set of off-road specific JBL-built headphones
• The main communication unit (“the brain”) that clips onto the headset
• Built-in wireless microphone
• Charging gear and mounting accessories
• The sound quality is backed by JBL, so right off the bat, we’re expecting clear music and crystal-clear communication.

Key Features That Stand Out

• Bluetooth Mesh Connection: No radio static or old-school frequencies here—talk to up to 15 riders via Bluetooth.
• Independent Music Playback: Everyone in your car can listen to their own music, podcasts, or audiobooks, and the system automatically mutes the music when someone talks.
• Impressive Range: Up to 2 miles of range between units.
• Helmet Ready: You can pop the main unit off the headphones and onto your helmet kit if you already run a Cardo system.
• Wireless and Rechargeable: Fully wireless setup, with long battery life and easy recharging.

Why We’re Excited

We’re planning to put serious miles on these units during our upcoming trips, but even right out of the box, it’s clear Cardo put a lot of thought into real off-road use. For families riding together, buddies linking up across the dunes, or even small race teams, this could be a serious upgrade from traditional intercoms and two-way radios.

The idea of seamless music, voice-activated talking, and no tangled cords is a huge step forward for UTV and off-road riders.
